Foundation Diploma in Multidisciplinary Creative Practice

Explore Creativity. Build your portfolio. Prepare for undergraduate-level study.

Most Creative futures do not begin with certainty. They begin with exploration, confidence, practice and the right guidance.
The Foundation Diploma in Multidisciplinary Creative Practice is an 8-month Creative foundation programme for students who
want to explore Creative education, build a strong portfolio, and prepare for progression into undergraduate-level study at AMDT.

It is especially suitable for students who do not yet meet the direct entry requirements for Year 1, or for students who are
still unsure which Creative direction they want to follow. Through studio-based learning, Creative projects, portfolio development,
specialist exploration and guided feedback, students begin to discover who they are as emerging Creative practitioners.

Students also have the opportunity to develop their interests through a chosen specialization pathway. Available specializations
include Visual Communication, Fashion Design & Creative Futures, Interior Architecture & Spatial Design, Film & Media Production, Animation, Creative Computing, and Business & Entrepreneurship. This allows students to explore a Creative discipline in greater depth while building a portfolio aligned with their future undergraduate aspirations.

A key advantage of the Foundation Diploma route is that students have the opportunity to earn two qualifications through a single programme. Upon successful completion and meeting the relevant requirements, students may receive both the AMDT Foundation Diploma in Multidisciplinary Creative Practice and the Pearson BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art, Design and Media Practice. This dual-award pathway provides both local recognition through AMDT and the added value of an internationally recognised Pearson qualification.

Students begin with broad Creative exploration and gradually move towards a clearer specialist direction. They develop Creative confidence, practical skills, research ability, digital awareness, portfolio work and a stronger understanding of possible Creative futures.

This course is not only about learning techniques. It is about helping students understand how to think Creatively, make informed decisions, communicate ideas, develop discipline, and prepare for the next stage of their education.

In addition, students benefit from a dual-award opportunity that adds value to their learning journey. Rather than completing separate programmes, students can work towards both an AMDT qualification and a Pearson BTEC qualification through the same course, strengthening their academic profile and future progression opportunities.
