Foundation Diploma in Multidisciplinary Creative Practice

Film & Media Production

Tell stories through film, media and moving image

Every powerful film, video, campaign or media experience begins with an idea — and the confidence to explore it.

The Foundation Diploma in Multidisciplinary Creative Practice: Film & Media Production is an 8-month Creative foundation programme for students who want to explore visual storytelling, film language, media production and Creative content-making while preparing for undergraduate-level study at AMDT.

This specialization is ideal for students interested in film, video, digital media, storytelling, camera work, editing, sound, content creation, documentary, short-form media or screen-based Creative practice.

Through studio-based learning, Creative projects, portfolio development, specialist exploration and guided feedback, students begin to build the confidence, discipline and portfolio needed for their next step in Creative education.

A key advantage of the Foundation Diploma route is that students have the opportunity to earn two qualifications through a single programme. Upon successful completion and meeting the relevant requirements, students may receive both the AMDT Foundation Diploma in Multidisciplinary Creative Practice and the Pearson BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art, Design and Media Practice.

A foundation pathway
into film and media

The Film & Media Production specialization helps students explore the world of moving image, storytelling and media creation before entering undergraduate-level study.

They develop Creative confidence, practical skills, visual awareness, research ability, production thinking and a portfolio that reflects their interest in screen-based Creative work.

This course is not only about using a camera or editing software. It is about understanding how stories are shaped, how audiences respond, how images and sound create meaning, and how Creative ideas become media outcomes.

Students also benefit from a dual-award opportunity. Rather than completing separate programmes, students can work towards both an AMDT qualification and a Pearson BTEC qualification through the same course, strengthening their academic profile and future progression opportunities.
