Our UX Design Students Win Big at Openhack 2.0 Designathon 2023

At AMDT School of Creativity, we don’t just teach design, we empower future problem-solvers. And that’s exactly what Kajaananan Vickneswaran and Abdurrahman Ihthisham, two of our brilliant UX Design students, proved at the Openhack 2.0 Designathon 2023.

Competing against 120+ participants, Kajaananan and Abdurrahman rose to the top with their innovative app design focused on renewable energy usage for farmers, a timely and impactful solution aimed at conserving energy while supporting economic growth.

Designing for Real-World Impact

Their winning idea? A mobile app designed to help farmers make the shift to renewable energy sources such as solar and hydro, track their energy expenditure in real-time, and receive AI-powered suggestions on how to optimise energy usage. The goal is to empower farmers to become more profitable while significantly reducing their environmental impact, a solution that’s as practical as it is future-forward.

It’s a smart solution tailor-made for Sri Lanka’s agricultural landscape, blending Ceativity with sustainability.

Why This Win Matters

In a world urgently in need of sustainable solutions, Creative tech like this proves how design can drive positive change. And that’s the kind of future we nurture at AMDT School of Creativity.

We couldn’t be prouder of Kajaananan and Abdurrahman for taking User Experience (UX) Design beyond the classroom and showing the world what AMDTians are truly made of, not just dreamers & doers, but changemakers who inspire Creative minds everywhere.
