Sri Lankan women diagnosed with Breast Cancer every year
People today have become busy with their lives and neglect the most important thing in their life. And that’s their health and wellbeing. In Sri Lanka, many women have been diagnosed with various diseases and Breast Cancer is the highest rated disease.
More than 3,100 Sri Lankan women are diagnosed with Breast Cancer every year. Even though death rates have been increasing year by year. These women do not go for early detection checkups and the people around these women (sons, husbands, fathers, daughters, friends, etc.) also do not show enough care to take them for a checkup.
In 2014, AMDT initiated a nationwide Breast Cancer Awareness Programme with the support of the National Cancer Control Programme under the Ministry of Health, Nutrition & Indigenous Medicine. Since then AMDT has been rigorously raising awareness for Breast Cancer in Sri Lanka.
This year AMDT has set up the ‘AMDT Breast Cancer Foundation’, a non-profit organization with the main objectives of creating awareness and research in Sri Lanka.
#ShowYouCare is a new initiative by the AMDT Breast Cancer Foundation to invite all Sri Lankans to support creating awareness about Breast Cancer early detection.
On October 17th the ‘AMDT Breast Cancer Foundation’ successfully organized the blood donation day at ‘AMDT, School of Creativity’. This event was organized in collaboration with the ‘National Blood Transfusion Service’ of Sri Lanka. Individuals from many organizations, students and the general public took part to donate blood and ultimately to raise awareness on Breast Cancer in Sri Lanka.
Our humble request to every Sri Lankan is to support our cause by using the hashtag #ShowYouCare and create enough awareness about Breast Cancer early detection on their social media profiles such as Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Let’s save our Sri Lankan women.
Further, you are also welcome to participate in any of the seminars or other public events organized by the ‘AMDT Breast Cancer Foundation’.
